Will Steam Deck 2 be Announced? Official Statement from Valve
Valve has responded to Steam Deck 2 rumors.
The number of handheld consoles is growing. There's a lot we've been waiting to hear about the Nintendo Switch 2, and the Steam Deck 2 rumours that started at the Consumer Electronics Show conference left us confused. Fortunately, this time the announcement came fast: Pierre-Loup Griffais, one of the team working on Valve's handheld console, gave an official response to these rumours.
The rumours started when one of VideoCardz.com's slides mentioned Steam Deck, suggesting that Ryzen Z2 processors could create a boom in the handheld console market, mentioning consoles like ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go and Steam Deck. According to The Verge, AMD later told some members of the press that there might be a Z2-powered Steam Deck. So began the rumour of the next version of Steam Deck.
Will Steam Deck 2 Come?
Bluesky "Z2 Steam Deck does not and will not exist. The slide probably meant that this series was made for such products. Nothing official has been announced."
Valve is not announcing a new handheld console, but the competition seems to be heating up in the market with the consoles that different companies are planning to launch. Announced at the same event, Acer Nitro Blaze 8 and 11 made a lot of talk with their size and detachable controllers. With these new consoles, we will see in the future whether the throne of Steam Deck, which has gained rapid popularity since its release, will be shaken.
