Undertale Breaks Its Own Player Record

One of the indie gaming world's most beloved franchises, Undertale has set a new concomitant player record on Steam, exactly 10 years after its release. Developed by Toby Fox, the game has become popular again with a 90% discount on Steam and has been discovered by thousands of new players. Last Sunday, the game was played by 11,000 players simultaneously.

First released in September 2015, Undertale has gained a huge fan base over the years and sold millions of copies. Although the exact sales figures on Steam are unknown, it is estimated to have sold over 10 million copies.

Undertale Breaks Its Own Concurrent Player Record

Toby Fox announced on social media that the game broke the all-time record for the number of simultaneous players.

“After becoming available on Steam for just $1, Undertale has broken the concurrent player record for the first time since 2015!”

Following Toby Fox's post, SteamDB data showed another new high on Sunday, with 11,071 players simultaneously playing the indie title. The previous record of 10,473 players was set in December 2015, three months after the game's release. As of 2016, the game's concurrent player count had never exceeded 5,000.

As part of Steam's Spring Sale, the price of this fantastic indie game has dropped to $0.99 (around £36). This opportunity will continue until 20 March. If you have not yet embarked on this adventure, do not miss this opportunity of Steam.
