Special Servers to be Added to Sea of Thieves

Developer studio Rare has introduced a new feature in honour of Sea of Thieves' seventh anniversary. In a community stream the other day, it was announced that custom servers will be added to the game at the beginning of 2026. These specialised servers, called Custom Seas, will be paid and available for online multiplayer.

With the Custom Seas feature, players will also be given special tools such as cinematic cameras that will allow them to shoot trailers for the game. There is no finalised information about the cost of Sea of Thieves private servers yet. However, Rare has stated that this feature is costly and therefore they will charge a monthly subscription fee.

We recently shared with you the cancellation decision about Everwild, which developer Rare has been working on for a long time. There is still no official statement about the game, which is allegedly shelved due to layoffs within Xbox.
