Sony Acquires Majority Stake in KADOKAWA
Sony announced this morning that it has acquired a total of 10 percent of KADOKAWA's shares, giving it majority ownership.
According to the announcement shared on the official blog this morning, Sony has acquired KADOKAWA's shares in FromSoftware, the developer of Elden Ring and Dark Souls. Sony, which announced that it paid 50 billion yen for this acquisition, owned 10% of KADOKAWA's shares with the shares it bought in February 2021. Thus, Sony, which has reached majority shares, will be able to use KADOKAWA's works for future adaptations.

This gives Sony the right to adapt the Dark Souls and Elden Ring series, anime and literary works from KADOKAWA into films and TV series. So there could be new productions inspired by the Dark Souls universe on the horizon.
