Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Will Be Naughty Dog's Most Expensive Game
Neil Druckmann talked about Naughty Dog's new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
Naughty Dog continues the development process for its new science fiction and action game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. According to the latest statement by the company's co-president and the game's creator, Neil Druckmann, the game will be Naughty Dog's most comprehensive and most expensive game ever.
In an interview with Variety, Druckmann said he couldn't talk about the development process yet and added:
“We’re making it, we’re playing it. We’re working with all our might. I’ve said this before, but I’m really serious, and I really feel it now: This is the most ambitious game we’ve ever made. When we finish it, it will be the most comprehensive, and perhaps the most expensive, game we’ve ever made.”
Druckmann also stated that the trailer shown during the Game Awards was just the beginning, and they will continue to build on the foundations of emotional storytelling and realistic action, similar to the studio's other games Uncharted and The Last Of Us, by adding RPG elements.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Could Be Adapted for the Screen
Druckmann also mentioned in the interview that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could be adapted into a series in the future. After HBO's The Last Of Us series won many awards, this idea sounds quite appealing, but Druckmann says, “First and foremost, it has to be a great video game. If that happens and we have the right partnership, it would be a great opportunity.”
Regarding the sequel to the game, which has been rumored to be a series from the beginning, he says, “If Intergalactic is successful, I'm sure you will see it again.” He adds, “I can't say if our next game will be this right after, but I'm leaving that possibility open.”
The release date for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has not yet been announced. We will see if the studio's most expensive game can meet expectations after a record-breaking series like The Last Of Us.
